Chairs of Excellence 2011

How to Apply?





 


Chairs of Excellence are open to:

•    young scientists with an internationally recognized level of excellence, willing to develop a new team in the frame of the Grenoble network,

•    experienced scientists at the highest international level in their field, willing to join the Grenoble community  to develop new research directions and long term collaborations with their home institution.

A Chair of excellence can be a full time or a part time position. The contract duration may vary from 9 months (which can be split over 3 years) to 36 months.


During their stay, the awarded scientists will have to commit themselves in science diffusion and education by giving seminars and courses at the Doctoral level. 


The scientific project:

The applicants must propose an innovative and ambitious project that leads to a significant enhancement of the research in Nanosciences in the Foundation network's laboratories

Particular attention will be given to research projects:

•    exploring new fields of investigation
•    allowing to bring new expertise not available locally
•    fostering collaborations within the Foundation network's laboratories
The project must be built in collaboration with a local coordinator who is a permanent researcher in the hosting laboratory.


In 2011, the Foundation is willing to support at least one Chair of Excellence whose subject would be at the edge of nanosciences and biology / medicine, as long as excellence criteria are fulfilled. 


Optimised applications profile:

The project must be focused in one or several of the fields of excellence of the network.


Contacts
The contact people who can help the applicants to get in touch with the Foundation network's laboratories are the members of the Steering Committee. They can provide detailed information about the research programs developed in Grenoble, the involved partners, the organization of the network and the available facilities.


Chair selection procedure


All the selection steps are strictly confidential.

After checking of their eligibility, the proposals are submitted to independent external peer reviewers. After reception of the reviewers' assessments, the Jury composed of the Steering Committee and of some external qualified scientists, ranks the applications and issues a list of applications proposed for funding, which is submitted for validation to the Foundation Board.
The results will be published in November 2011.
