Simulation Of Nanostructure Growth And Self-Organization

Job description:

A postdoctoral position is available as part of the MUSCADE project funded by the Nanosciences Foundation (http://www.fondation-nanosciences.fr). The goal of this three years project is to simulate the growth and the self-organization of nanostructures such as Ge quantum dots on silicon, silicon nanowires or graphene sheets.

  • The first part of the postdoctoral project is to develop new and efficient computational tools by coupling accelerated algorithms developed by a collaborator on the Muscade project, Normand Mousseau — ART nouveau and kinetic ART — with semiempirical potential, tight-binding and the /ab initio/ packages BigDFT developed in Grenoble.

  • The second year of the project will be devoted to the application of the developed methodologies to the three application targets listed above.

This work will be done in close collaboration with two others postdocs that will be hired to work on the application targets.

This work will take place in CEA-Grenoble within the simulation laboratory of the INAC institut under the co-supervision of N. Mousseau.

For more details about ongoing work, see http://inac.cea.fr/L_Sim/ or http://www.phys.umontreal.ca/~mousseau/

This postdoctoral position is for two years, starting between November 2009 and June 2010. The net salary is 2,200€ - 2,400€ per month, depending on seniority, qualification and experience.

Applications:

The applicant must have strong skills in quantum physics, atomistic simulations and solid state physics, licensed by a PhD in the domain. A good knowledge of computer programming and environment is essential.

Interested candidates should send curriculum vitae, list of publications (including preprints of unpublished papers if possible), and arrange for two to three references addressed to:
