National Meeting on Quantum Dots

June 19th, 2009, from 9.30am

Amphithéâtre 15 (Seminar room Jean Benoit)

Ecole PHELMA-Polygone ( ex-ENSERG)

23 rue des Martyrs - Grenoble

The National Meeting on Quantum Dots will be held in Grenoble (Phelma-polygone) on June 19th 2009. The last meeting was organized in 2003 in Marcoussis.
The aim of this one day meeting is to provide a forum for scientists from different research branches including physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering to discuss fabrication techniques, optical and transport properties as well as applications of quantum dots. One of the main goals of the conference is to bring together different quantum dot communities involved in research on self-assembled dots, nano-crystals, nano-wires and gated structures, in order to stimulate progress by combining the expertise developed in each community.
The scope of this meeting covers elaboration, basic physics and applied research on quantum dots. The focus of the conference is the optical and electronic properties of nanostructures grown both by epitaxial methods leading to three dimensional confinement of carriers.
During the last years, this field of research has continued to evolve at a very fast pace. This national meeting will provide an up-to-date image of the progress achieved and will contribute to the future success of the field.

The meeting will focus on the following topics:

  • Formation, ordering and structure of quantum dots

  • Quantum dots / cavity coupling and its applications

  • Spin dynamics, control and readout of a single spin

  • Dephasing, coherent control and quantum information with quantum dots
